Our History
Nova was established in 2006 by current owner and director John Pederick. The name Nova actually comes from our home county of Avon — spelled backwards — a connection to our local roots and forward-thinking approach.
After taking redundancy from a local Bristol transport company, John originally planned to pursue a transport management role in Auckland, New Zealand. However, before emigrating, he spotted a gap in the local haulage market — and decided instead to stay in the UK and start his own venture. That decision marked the beginning of Nova’s journey.
Our first vehicle was a 2002 MAN ME 220 B 18 tonne rigid.
The business soon began to grow, with the arrival of a 26-tonne Mercedes Actros rigid in 2007 and our first 6x2 Renault Premium tractor unit in 2009. During this time, Nova also operated a fleet of vans offering next-day delivery and courier services.
Originally specialising in palletised deliveries, Nova quickly expanded into day and night trunking for major pallet networks and partnerships with leading UK supermarket chains. From there, John saw an opportunity to diversify into the container transport market, an area he was particularly passionate about.
After years of working directly with major shipping lines, Nova evolved into a true container specialist, offering complete end-to-end solutions — from overweight container handling, lifting, sales, storage, and repairs to delivery and collection. This comprehensive approach allows us to meet the needs of every customer, no matter the scale.
In 2023, Nova entered a new chapter with the introduction of our first STGO CAT 2 tractor unit, marking our expansion into the heavy haulage sector and strengthening our position as a trusted name in UK transport and logistics.
